MILBRANDT VINEYARDS
Estates 2006 Merlot, Washington State
Our 2006 Estates Merlot features fruit from four of our vineyards in the Wahluke Slope AVA of Eastern Washington. Established in 2006, the Wahluke Slope is a sub-region within the Columbia Valley appellation. Located midway between Seattle and Spokane it is bordered by the Columbia River to the southwest and Hanford Reach National Monument to the east.
With access to 13 distinct estate vineyard sites, winemaker Gordy Hill has a lot of raw material at his disposal each vintage. For the 2006 Estates Merlot, Gordy blended grapes from our Northridge, Clifton Hill, Sundance and Don Talcott vineyards. To add complexity, weight and structure, he added small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
Smooth, sophisticated, plump and juicy, our 2006 Estates Merlot delivers cassis, boysenberry, blueberry, chocolate and smoky oak. It is well structured with mouth-filling richness, ripe fruit flavors and rounded tannins.
